Gen2Recomp iOS Installation Guide

Install the current Gen2Recomp 0.7.84 IPA with AltStore or Sideloadly, add your own supported game and keep the app refreshed.

What you need before installing

The current iOS file

Download Gen2Recomped-0.7.84-ios.ipa. Android and computer downloads cannot install on iPhone or iPad.

A sideloading tool

Use AltStore or Sideloadly to install the unsigned app. Gen2Recomp is not available through the App Store.

An Apple ID

A free Apple ID normally signs the app for seven days. The same tool must refresh it before that period ends.

Your own supported game

Keep the legally obtained game in Files, iCloud Drive or another location the iOS file picker can reach.

Install with AltStore

  1. Set up AltStore on the iPhone or iPadComplete AltStore's normal computer-assisted installation first.
  2. Download the Gen2Recomp IPAUse the iOS button on this website's Download page.
  3. Open AltStore and choose My AppsUse the plus button to select the downloaded IPA.
  4. Sign in when askedAltStore uses the Apple ID to sign and install the app.
  5. Open Gen2RecompIf iOS asks for Developer Mode or trust approval, follow the normal message shown by the device.
  6. Refresh before seven days passConnect to AltServer and refresh the app so the free signing period does not expire.

Install with Sideloadly

  1. Install and open Sideloadly on a computerConnect the iPhone or iPad and allow the computer to communicate with it.
  2. Select the current Gen2Recomp IPAUse the exact 0.7.84 filename shown above.
  3. Choose the connected device and Apple IDStart the installation and complete any approval requested by iOS.
  4. Open Gen2Recomp after installationKeep Sideloadly available for future refreshes when using a free Apple ID.

AltStore and Sideloadly are two ways to install the same Gen2Recomp file. Choose one method and keep using it for updates and refreshes.

Import a game and protect progress

  1. Open Gen2Recomp and choose the launcher import option.
  2. Select your own compatible game through the iOS file picker.
  3. Allow preparation to finish, then create a clearly named save profile.
  4. Add more recognized games one at a time if wanted.
  5. Test movement, menus, battles and saving before enabling Dramatic Shapes or other mods.

Keep backups in Files or iCloud Drive before updating or reinstalling. Refreshing an existing app is different from deleting it: deletion can remove local app data, so never rely on the only save stored inside the app.
