A familiar adventure with more ways to play
Gen2Recomp lets you play through Johto and Kanto using your own compatible copy of Pokemon Gold or Silver. Important Generation 2 features such as day and night, breeding, the Day-Care, Pokegear, shinies and held items are part of the project.
Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are also supported, but this website gives Gold and Silver priority so new visitors are not sent through Gen1-only instructions.

Play with a 3D-style world
Gen2 Dramatic Shapes changes how the overworld looks, giving towns, routes and indoor areas a raised, block-like appearance. It is optional: set up the normal game first, then add it separately.

Three things every player should know
Bring your own game
Gen2Recomp does not include Pokemon. You need your own legally obtained, compatible US copy of Gold, Silver, Red, Blue or Yellow.
Give the first launch time
Gold and Silver can take a couple of minutes to prepare on the first run. Keep the app open until the game starts.
Back up before updates
Gen2Recomp is still in beta. Keep a copy of your progress before installing a newer version or changing mods.
Imported saves need care
Saves brought in from another app or cartridge can lose story-event progress. Keep the original save untouched.
Kept current
Version details are reviewed as releases change
Download names, supported devices, fixes and important warnings are updated when the project changes. Guide wording is kept simple so you can focus on playing.
