Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal

A familiar adventure with more ways to play

Gen2Recomp recreates the complete Gold, Silver and Crystal journey across Johto, the Pokemon League and Kanto. Day and night, breeding, the Day-Care, Pokegear, shiny Pokemon and held items are all part of the experience.

Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow are also supported. These guides keep the Generation 2 games front and center while preserving the Generation 1 options.

Play with a 3D-style world

Gen2 Dramatic Shapes changes how the overworld looks, giving towns, routes and indoor areas a raised, block-like appearance. Version 0.7.18 includes the current 0.7.18 package on its release page.

Before you begin

Three things every player should know

Bring your own game

Gen2Recomp does not include Pokemon. You need your own legally obtained, compatible US copy of Gold, Silver, Crystal, Red, Blue or Yellow.

Give the first launch time

Gold, Silver and Crystal can take a couple of minutes to prepare on the first run. Keep the app open until the game starts.

Back up before updates

Keep a copy of your progress before installing a newer version or changing mods.

Imported saves need care

Saves brought in from another app or cartridge can lose story-event progress. Keep the original save untouched.
