No. Gen2Recomp.net is an independently operated fan-made guide. It was approved as an informational website on the condition that it is not presented as official.

Open the Download page and choose the current package for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Switch, Xbox, RG34XXSP or an existing LÖVE 11.5 runtime. Every button downloads the matching original file directly from the current GitHub release.

Gen2Recomp 0.7.18 is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Steam Deck, homebrew Nintendo Switch, Xbox Developer Mode and Anbernic RG34XXSP. iOS has no current package.

Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Red, Blue and Yellow are supported. The Generation 2 games are the main Gen2Recomp experience and the focus of these guides.

Yes. Gen2Recomp 0.7.18 supports the standard US Crystal Revision 0 and Revision 1 releases.
Read the detailed guideDoes Gen2Recomp include Pokemon Gold, Silver or Crystal?
No. You must provide your own legally obtained compatible US copy of the game. Gen2Recomp and this website do not provide Pokemon games.
Read the detailed guideHow long does the first setup take?
Pokemon Gold, Silver or Crystal can take a couple of minutes to prepare on the first launch. Later launches normally open without asking for the game again.
Read the detailed guideHow do I update from a pre-v0.7.10 Android version?
Open the pre-v0.7.10 app and use Start, Save, then Export for every important save. Confirm the exported copy exists, uninstall the older app, install v0.7.18, prepare the same game and import the saved copy.
Read the detailed guideWill my Gen2Recomp save work after an update?
Saves created inside Gen2Recomp are expected to remain compatible unless a release says otherwise. Keep a backup before every update.
Read the detailed guideCan I import a save from a cartridge or another app?
Importing is experimental. Story-event progress can reset, so keep the original save untouched and test only a copied version.
Read the detailed guideWhat is Gen2 Dramatic Shapes?
It is a separate optional extra that gives the Pokemon world a raised, block-like 3D-style view. The v0.7.18 release page includes the current 0.7.18 package, and the normal game works without it.

Do not assume they work. Each mod should clearly state Gen2Recomp and Gold, Silver or Crystal support and should be tested one at a time with a backup.

Yes. Open Options, then Controls, and choose new buttons for movement, A, B, Start and Select.
Read the detailed guideWhat should I do if Gen2Recomp feels slow?
Try Auto, Balanced or Low in the performance option. Test without mods first. Lower visual quality does not change game progress.

Keep a copy of important progress, settings and the previous working Gen2Recomp version. Test the normal game before turning mods back on.
